On 11th September 2005, Joyce Cheng played the part of Snow White (白雪公主) in the Hong Kong Disneyland Opening Ceremony. After the show, the Hong Kong Broadcasting Authority received a 361 complaints on Joyce's performance, although by the time she had lost a tremendous amount of weight compared with her childhood. The complaints are being posted after some teenagers described on the internet forums and when the teenagers found out that they are not alone, they complained together. Most of the complaints described her performance as 'disgusting', 'badly affecting the minors, hence parental guidance should be advised before the show' etc.She had also come under attack from fellow entertainers alike for playing Snow White and kissing singer Ron Ng Cheuk-hei on the cheek. Her mother explains that this was merely an act of greeting and very common in the west, where Yan Yee had grown up. Despite of the explaination, the term "Kiss of Death" is still widely used to describe the above mentioned incident.
